John grew up in Visalia, CA where he learned how to fly fish through Buz’s, the local fly shop, at the age of 8. It was here that a passion for fly fishing had been sparked and by age 16 a camera accompanied every fishing excursion. John’s hobby has turned into a career having many of his images appearing in fishing periodicals such as Field and Stream, Fly Fisherman, California Fly Fisher, North West and South West Fly Fishing, Fly Fishing in Saltwaters, and The Drake, as well as many product catalogs. John Graduated from California State University Chico, in Northern California with a degree in Business Administration, Marketing in 1999. That fall he spent two months fishing British Columbia’s famed Steelhead Rivers. While attending Chico State John worked at Powell Fly Shop and guided on the Feather and Sacramento Rivers for Steelhead and Salmon. He is also a Fly Fishing Sales Representative for Simms Fishing Products (www.simmsfishing.com) in California, Arizona, Nevada and Hawaii. Because of these industry ties, his models will always be wearing and using the latest gear!
